Eclectic, Boutique hotel of the stars

Eclectic, Boutique hotel of the starsManchester’s exclusive Eclectic Boutique Hotel Collection will have a complete overhaul of its IT systems.

The Eclectic Boutique Hotels Collection consists of Didsbury House Hotel, Eleven Didsbury Park and Great John Street Hotel, all in Manchester and known for their luxurious interior design and unique individual rooms. The hotels’ celebrity guests include the Manchester United team, Victoria Beckham, Mike Tyson and Take That.

Lyndos will completely redesign and maintain the IT infrastructure to give faster connections and greater reliability.

Instead of having a separate system for each of the three hotels, there will be a centralised data centre, giving substantial cost savings and easier maintenance.

The single servers, which currently have frequent failures, will be replaced by multiple servers in the data centre to keep the system working if the hardware goes down. It will also provide a much faster network.

The changes will initially be behind the scenes, but Lyndos will also advise on new technical facilities in guest rooms in the future.

Richard Kwiecien, operations director at Eclectic Boutique Hotel Collection, said: “I was impressed by Mike Hall from Lyndos because he listened to our needs rather than doing a fancy presentation.

“We have had no end of problems with our computers in the past; the system has been incredibly slow and crashes 20 times a day. Our system problems have cost us £30,000 in management time and lost revenue. Now with Lyndos I won't even have to think about the computer system anymore.”

Mike Hall, managing director of Lyndos, said: “Hotels are 24-7 businesses, so they need IT systems that never sleep too. If the system goes down the business effectively stops.

“As business people ourselves, we understand this far more than most IT people. We design them to give 24-7-365 operation by using what’s called resilient and redundant designs.

“In practice it means that when hardware goes wrong - as it is bound to do occasionally – the IT systems substitutes a spare one and the business keeps going.”
